|This photo was taken in December 2005, the day I picked up my brand new GMC Sonoma,
and then drove across the street to pick up this brand new 1996 RMX250. It was my second
RMX, which I was convinced I needed to own because the front suspension was updated to
conventional forks. The rest of the bike was pretty much the same as the 1994 version,
although they did slightly uncork the exhaust for 1996.
The RMX was Suzuki's last serious 2-stroke off-road bike. While the motocross 2-strokes
continued for several years later, eventually they followed the lead of the other Japanese
motorcycle manufacturers and converted their MX and off-road fleets to 4-strokes.
